This is from the recent trip to UK/Europe. Near Bolton, north England. I find it uplifting - strong green colour and flowers - who doesn't like flowers!@?

Trip to UK and Europe

A wonderful time was had on the recent trip to UK and Europe. Photographic highlights for me in UK would include the Lake District in north of England (around Grassmere and Windermere) and the Scottish Highlands (thank you Barbara and Ray McKenna). Here are a few samples of landscape photos from these fine areas.

Tip & Photo of the Day

Here is a tip on lightening selected parts of a photograph.

Tip - Lighten or brighten selected parts of a photograph (eg eyes)

There are many different methods to do this. One method is to use the High key option in Nik software which comes free from Google https://www.google.com/nikcollection/.

From Photoshop, load up the Nik Add in. Select the High Key option from the Color Efex Pro module of Nik. Apply the high key effect to the % extent you wish within Nik, save and return to Photoshop. This will create a new layer within Photoshop. Add a black-filled in layer mask in Photoshop (press the Alt key when choosing Add Layer Mask). Now finally, use the Brush Tool within the eyes in the image to selectively apply the high key effect. You will probably want to reduce the opacity of the layer to 50% or less - but use your judgement.

A Splash of Colour

Our imagination can be captured by intense colours. I love colour. It can influence mood, emotion more generally and evoke particular feelings.

VAPS Convention (Victorian Amateur Photographic Association)

Couldn't make the VAPS Convention unfortunately - apparently this year, at Albury, it was very successful.  One DRAMAQUEENPHOTOGRAPHY image "Market Man" did receive a merit under Portraits section and will be one of ten Colour prints to represent Victoria at the Australian Photographic Society annual APSCON Conference. More details of the VAPS Convention at http://www.caulfieldphoto.org/2016/vaps-convention-2016-albury-wodonga/.

Kenya

Kenya is a land of contrasts. In the East of Africa, the country borders with Tanzania, Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan and Uganda. Kenya is renowned for its many wildlife reserves and sanctuaries particularly those dedicated to the care of baby elephants. Photos here are of Nairobi, its National Park, Embu and its surrounding towns. Portraits are of respectively driver, elephant keeper and Massai warrior.

With the Warmest of thanks and love to Mama Brian and family.
